BAR ASSOCIATION LEGAL AID

Every bar association in Turkey has legal aid offices, which have been established under the instructions of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations and are at the service of our citizens whose economic power is not sufficient to hire a lawyer.

You can apply to the Sakarya Bar Association legal aid office to hire a free lawyer in Sakarya. If your application for legal aid is approved by the Sakarya Bar Association, a free lawyer will be appointed to you by the bar association.

Sakarya Bar Association and many other bar associations check the following criteria to appoint a free lawyer to you;

  • Poverty certificate (obtained from the headman's office where you reside)
  • If the house you live in is rented, a copy of the rental agreement (Being a homeowner reduces your chances of getting legal aid, being a tenant increases it)
  • Bank deposit account records (Having a large amount of money in your bank account reduces your chances of receiving legal aid)
  • Not having a vehicle registered in your name (Having a vehicle registered to you reduces your chances of receiving legal aid) (Can be obtained from e-government)
  • Insurance registration certificate (Being unemployed increases your chances of getting legal aid) (Can be obtained from e-government)
  • Not having real estate registered in your name (Real estate registered to you reduces your chances of receiving legal aid) (Can be obtained from e-government)
  • Certificate of birth registration copy (can be obtained from e-government)
  • Residence (Can be obtained from e-government)

COURT LEGAL AID

Legal aid arrangements have been made by the Republic of Turkey for our citizens who cannot afford to pay court fees and expenses.

If the court where you want to file a lawsuit accepts your request for legal aid, the court can hear your case without charging you any fees or expenses. For this, you must prove to the court you are filing a lawsuit that your financial situation is not sufficient.

If you have received legal aid from the bar association and have collected the documents listed above, the court will probably accept you from legal aid for court fees and expenses.

We do not recommend that you file a lawsuit yourself without seeking legal aid from the bar association and that you request legal aid from the court where you filed the lawsuit. In this case, your request for legal aid will probably be rejected.

First of all, go to the bar association of your province and get support from the legal aid unit. Above, it is explained in detail how to apply to the bar association and request a free lawyer.

PROBONO

Probono means "for the good of society" in Latin. Probono practices of law firms aim to ensure that citizens whose financial situation is not sufficient to hire a lawyer receive good legal services from well-known lawyers and law firms. In this way, disadvantaged segments of the society will also have access to quality legal services.

Interest in probono culture is increasing day by day in Turkey. The biggest study in this context is the probono network study created by Istanbul Bar Association and Istanbul Bilgi University. Click to review https://probono.bilgi.edu.tr/tr/
